STRUCTURAL RIGGING

Photon Rigging

LS Photon can be used for both lateral and fore & aft application.

Lateral rigging can be built in various configurations:

  • Consolidated – Upper cables branch out from a single solid lower cable.

  • Continuous – Separate cable for each load path.

  • Linked – Each span is a separate cable, linked as spreader tips.

LS Photon rigging uses standard stainless terminals, which can be customized to match any retrofit configuration.

BUILD PROCESS

LS Photon is a unique pultruded UHMWPE/Vectran solid rod, which is covered with an aramid fiber and UV resistant urethane coating.  The process starts with sling winding the uni-directional fibers using our state-of-the-art custom winding machine.  The fibers are then passed through three consolidation dies, which fuse the filaments into a single solid rod.  This rod, is then covered with four layers of black Technora which is used specifically for its resistance to high speed/heat abrasion, which can be caused from a sheet passing over the cable at high speed. The final process to complete the cable is to bond the aluminum/titanium ends onto the cable and apply a UV resistant urethane coating.

This unique process produces a strong, tough and resilient cable that is impervious to fatigue, corrosion, UV and chafe damage. The end cones are light weight high grade aluminum, hard coat anodized, with titanium inserts, to isolate the stainless-steel terminal from the aluminum cone, preventing any possibly of galvanic corrosion.

INTEGRATION

The spreader integration is done using a molded E-Glass fitting, which is bonded to the cable, creating a controlled curved surface for the cable to rest in, while matching the spreader tip, ensuring a perfect fit.
This method allows the product to be easily customized to every spreader tip arrangement.
Depending on your current rigging setup, we can work to integrate LS Photon on any existing mast.
