La Mini Transat classifies the Mini 6.50 prototype class as “True laboratories for naval architects” -- and they are right about that.

The first generation of LS Carbon rigging was born in 2016, onboard Mini RG650 (formerly Team Wichard) in Annapolis, MD. The 21-ft ocean racing pocket rocket provided the perfect platform to test-run our version of the world’s leading performance rigging material: carbon.

Our mission was to create the best rigging solution for durability, performance and accessibility combined. Carbon rigging had proven its worth as the grand-prix rigging choice, but the value was questionable with a high price point and cost of ownership. Our solution: create innovations in the build process to ultimately provide high-quality rigging that was more accessible in terms of cost and maintenance.

In 2017, RG650 Team Wichard scored 1st in class for the single-handed leg of the Bermuda 1-2 against a fleet of other Minis. Multiple ocean crossings and a couple of iterations later, LS Carbon rigging came to life and proved its power on the open ocean.

The LS Carbon currently available on the market is light-years away from our first generation carbon rigging, due to our dedication to R&D and finishing perfection. Over the past few years, we have developed the ultimate carbon rigging that checks all of the boxes: performance, weight, size, durability, accessibility and value.

As a result, we are pleased to offer carbon rigging solutions for vessels up to 80-ft, from performance offshore catamarans down to small sport boats. LS Carbon’s estimated lifespan is double that of rod and PBO, but priced in line, so carbon rigging can finally be a smart investment for any performance sailor. LS Carbon is also cured in-house and coiled, so it can be shipped or stored anywhere in the world. Contact our team to discuss your rigging needs and if LS Carbon is the right choice for you.
